I’m so fucking sick of the incessant talk about how the girl from my school that died is an angel now… no, she’s not some ~*beautiful angel watching down*~ she’s fucking dead, nonexistent, nothingness, her entire mental life wiped out into an inconceivable atemporal nothingness.  Even if some underlying aspect of her mental life survived, it’s nothing remotely related to her personhood, and she’s sure as fuck not “watching” us down on Earth.

I didn’t get too upset by her death, and I’m not remotely a New Atheist type, but all of this bullshit just gets on my nerves.  It’s as if we’re doing her an injustice by acting as if her death was all part of some fucking plan rather than being completely shitty.  No, she wasn’t magically saved, and this fucking absurd and terrible car crash was preordained by nothing but unknowable causal relations.  I see this event as a fundamental conflict between my emotional reactions to the tragedy and the complete fucking apathy of the universe and lack of evaluative distinction between this event and any other banal event.  It’s not some goddamn divine chess move, it’s a living breathing and loving human being completely and utterly extinguished right in the peak of its vitality.
